Wall

This piece continued my reflection on the COVID-19 pandemic. Four years after lockdown I was still processing wounds made through loss of memories. While the world was socially distanced we each sat and dealt with this unique form of loss trapped within our homes. Years later the inability to regain these moments still bubbles up anger inside of me. So I decided to finally pick up a bat again. The same one I had practiced a perfect swing with thousands of times before but, hadn’t touched since my final season was canceled. And I obliterated the wall with this swing. This was my final act of acceptance for the lost time. The final bit of poisonous rage, leaving me seeping into the wall and healing over.
